Abstract

The aim of the article is to present the research perspective on the phenomenon of migration at the beginning of the Second World War. The paper shows the search for definitions of migration in terms of the environment of origin, factors determining migration, voluntariness (legality), or aspects of migration duration (geographical-demographic, cultural-social, historical, ethical and axiological). The substantive part was divided into three main forms of migration, which, defined by the nature of migration, were divided into Russian deportations to the east, displacements by Germans to the west, and war refugees. The publication uses the historical method, as well as the method of analysis and synthesis of the content. As a result of establishing the main research directions, it was assumed that the directions of migration of Poles in particular directions of the world were signalled, divided into specific continents. Basic statistical data on the number and affiliation of the Polish society divided into military and civilians are also discussed.
